Simple Tips to Prevent Vehicle Break-Ins

Never Store Spare Keys In Your Car

You may have seen a movie where a robber breaks into a car and finds an additional key. This might not seem like it would happen in real life, yet it happens more often than you think. People often keep extra keys in their automobiles, either in the glove compartment or the center console. That's usually a poor idea, though, because it makes it very easy for a thief to get what they want.

You should usually keep your spare key in your house, out of sight, in case someone breaks in and tries to steal your automobile.

Don't Leave Vulnerable Items On Top Of Vehicles

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it's astonishing how often people leave important things on the top of their cars. Even if these things are locked up, they're still going to be easy to steal and not too hard for someone with bolt cutters to access. So, when you get home, you should always take everything off your roof and put it somewhere safe. Toolboxes on the backs of trucks are another big target. You can't really lock these up when you get home, but you can add extra locks to make them tougher to steal.
