Used Cars That Mechanics Say Aren’t Worth the Money

10. Chevrolet SSR - $39,240

The Chevy SSR was first made in 2003, however its production run was quite doubtful. The key novelty of the car was that it was produced mostly by a computer, and people didn't touch it until the very end of the process. This definitely set off some alarms, yet it still made it to the roadways, even though it didn't last very long. It was withdrawn from the lots in 2006, and its cancellation was announced at the same time as the GM Craft Center's closing.

The engine was the car's biggest problem, along with its odd manufacture. It was well known that it was hard to switch from first to second gear, and engine bogging happened a lot.

9. Plymouth Prowler - $39,300

Some people might remember the Prowler from when it first came out as the Chrysler Prowler. The Prowler had a lot of problems after it came out, even though it only sold for a brief time from 1997 to 2002. The first thing people didn't like about it was that it had a relatively weak V6 engine and no options for a manual transmission. It also only came in purple, which was a rare and less popular hue at the time. It was changed in 1999 when it came back with a new engine, but the greater price meant that no one wanted to try it.
