Used Cars That Mechanics Say Aren’t Worth the Money
38. AMC Gremlin - $1,959
Automobile Mag remarked that history had not been kind to the AMC Gremlin. These cheap cars sold well and were popular, but it doesn't make up for how poorly they handled and how many mechanical problems they had. One example is that the flip-up rear window was so weak that it could be broken off by hand. This was not merely a mechanical mistake, but it was also a security risk. The Globe and Mail included the Gremlin on their list of the "12 Worst Cars Ever Built."
37. Suzuki X-90 - $1,992
People mostly complained about the X-90 because it was too huge. The X-90 went above and beyond by making the inside so compact and cramped that it was uncomfortable and hard to get in and out of. The Truth About Cars called the X-90 "surreal" and "bizarre," and it had a lot of weird design choices. For instance, the transfer case would break if you used the four-wheel-drive mode, and the T-Top would often become stuck.
The X-90 was only made for a brief time, from 1995 to 1997. But a lot of people still remember how awkward the car was, and mechanics know all about the problems that made it famous.
