Used Cars That Mechanics Say Aren’t Worth the Money
24. Saturn Ion - $12,725
The Saturn Ion was made from 2003 to 2007, and people say it was a rather good used car. But early issues in its production cycle left a bad taste in customers' mouths, and even after the defects and idiosyncrasies were fixed, the car was still not popular. These automobiles had to be recalled in large numbers even after they were made because of problems with the external lighting, steering systems, parking brakes, and transmission. There were also problems with the gas cap, which kept the "Check Engine" light on.
23. Chevrolet Caprice - $16,548
The Caprice was once one of the most popular used cars that Chevrolet sold. General Motors then decided to rebuild the popular car to meet the needs of today, making it bigger and heavier. To say the least, the redesign was not well-received and missed the target for many. These days, the Caprice is notorious for its most common problem: the automobile tends to idle when the driver stops or changes gears.
The car had two rather long manufacturing runs (1966–1996 and then 2001–2017), although it was never exactly the same after the redesign in the 1990s, which made it less popular.
